Products sold on the POS system can be grouped into categories. These categories can be sorted on POS according to the administrator’s preference. Subcategories can also be created.

Main Categories

The following will guide administrators in creating a product category

1. From the main menu navigation bar, select Merchants.

2. From the list of Merchants, select the desired merchant where the Product Category is to be created.

3. Under the Merchant, select Product Categories.

4. Select CREATE NEW at the top right corner of the screen.

5. Product categories can be indicated for several languages depending on the support requested. Select the main language for the product category. For example, EN will be selected.

   

6. Indicate a Name for the Product Category.

7. Indicate the Default Name. (This is the name that will be displayed if no Language name is set).

8. Indicate the Sorting Index. The Sorting index is the ascending order in which categories will be displayed on the POS.

   

9. Click SAVE

10. To add another language for the same Category Name, select the language. The Default Name does not change and the Sorting index remains the same. Indicate the NAME of the Category according to the language. Click SAVE.

    

11. Tip: Multiple Languages can be set for one Category Name. This set-up is mostly used for the self-service (Kiosk) when language selection is allowed for customers using the kiosk.

    

• Below is the POS view for the above Product Category sorting.

Notice that the Product Category Sorting starts from Food which has a sorting index of zero (0), followed by Breakfast with a sorting index of 1, then by Lunch with a sorting index of 2. Note that the Product Category with the name Drinks was not displayed on the POS because no product was created for that category.
